The earthquake happened on Sunday,December 20,2009 in Malawi,which had a magnitude of 6.0.This was caused by the transform fault boundary.
At least three people were killed and about 200 hundred people were injured because of the earthquake.270,000 people had also been urged to leave their home for their safety.People were appealing to the government to help as a matter of urgency then.
I think that the government can encourage the people to use tempered glass to make their windows as it is designed so that the glass will still break when a earthquake happens,but the pieces are less likely to be sharp and jagged that might injured someone seriously,so as to minimize the damage from an earthquake.
